A Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) are private, Medicare-approved health plans that include your Part A (hospital) and Part B (medical) benefits. Most plans also include prescription drug coverage (Part D) and may offer extras like dental, vision, hearing, or fitness programs.

When you enroll in a Medicare Advantage Plan, your benefits are managed through the plan instead of Original Medicare. 

Every Medicare Advantage Plan must cover what Original Medicare covers (except hospice care, which remains under Original Medicare). In addition, many plans in Pennsylvania and Delaware also include:

• Dental, vision, and hearing benefits
• Wellness and fitness programs
• Prescription drug coverage (Part D)

Medicare supplement (Med Supp/ Medigap) insurance helps pay for costs that original Medicare doesn't cover - like copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles. Some Medigap policies even cover care outside the U.S.
 

Key things to know about Medigap:

• You pay a private insurance carrier a monthly premium in addition to your Part B premium. 
• Policies cover one person (spouses need separate policies). 
• Medigap is guaranteed renewable as long as you pay your premium. 
• You cannot have both Medigap and Medicare Advantage at the same time.

• If you have a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can apply for a Medigap policy, but make sure you can leave the Medicare Advantage Plan before your Medigap policy begins.
• You pay the private insurance carrier a monthly premium for your Medigap policy in addition to the monthly Part B premium that you pay to Medicare.
• A Medigap policy covers one person. If you and your spouse both want Medigap coverage, we'll work with you to setup two separate policies.
• Any standardized Medigap policy is guaranteed renewable even if you have health problems. This means the insurance company can't cancel your Medigap policy as long as you pay the premium.
